Peppy's Top 15 Electro Songs of 2008

Asa Tyler's Top 15:

1. As Above, So Below (Justice Remix)
Oh Justice. First “We Are Your Friends”. Then Cross. Now this? When do you not hook it up? The answer is never. This song has something that none of the other songs on this list have: that fucking underwater effect, and the best ending to any electro song that I have ever heard. This reminds me of wrapping up an amazing night, driving fast down the highway at 1 AM, windows down, and a shit-eating grin on my face. Happiness lies everywhere in this world. All you have to do is find it.
DOWNLOAD
2. Lights & Music (Boys Noize Remix)
I’ll never forget the first time I heard this on Starfox’s megamix. Oh it was too legit to stop listening to. This shit reminds me of a happy, upbeat electro party, a utopia with a side of bright lights and cute girls. Some dopeness that I have yet to find…
DOWNLOAD
3. Nobody Lost, Nobody Found - Cut Copy
The hidden track on “In Ghost Colours”. Just when you thought they hooked shit up, there’s more. This shit will drive you up the wall, and all I can think of when listening to this are trips riding into the city on 76 as the sun sets. Burn in the face of love…
DOWNLOAD
4. Fool For Love (SebastiAn Remix)
Epic. Possibly my favorite SebastiAn remix. The piano in the beginning gives off a sense of seriousness to the song. But no. The beat comes in, and SebastiAn goes the fuck to work with this shit, adding distortion, cutting up the vocal part, and putting in some sick effects that’ll keep you listening. All I can say is: This is epic.
DOWNLOAD
5. Voyager (Revolte Remix)
Revolte hooks shit up with this step-up-from-Daft-Punk track. They take it, add a vocal piece, put in a new beat, and essentially tear the original version a new one. And you thought the unedited version was good…
DOWNLOAD
6. Momy - SebastiAn
Rave shit. SebastiAn lets you in for a treat with this amazing beat. I swear he needs to start making more beats for the sake of not only electro fans, but also fucking hip-hop artists. These beats are so fucking amazing.
DOWNLOAD
7. American Boy (LAZR TAG Remix)
“Oh yeah that new Kanye West song with that chick is pretty cool”. Sure, but if you know what’s really fucking good, you’ll take a look at this mind-blowing, LAZRTAG remix that has been banged WAY more than once in my whip. Give it a try. You won’t stop listening.
DOWNLOAD
8. We Dance Together (SebastiAn Remix)
This shit can be found on Peppy’s “Intim4ate Culination5” make out mix that has only been shown to Starfox and Falco. This song is perfect for that build-up, I’m getting with a dope girl, electro style. This song also tends to have hints of a modern disco, which I am always fucking down with.
DOWNLOAD
9. Hearts On Fire (Knightlife Remix)
Starfox and Falco once agreed that “Saturdays” By Cut Copy was the quintessential, “driving to your girl’s house to get ass” electro song. Well if that is so, this is the quintessential, “driving back home from just getting ass” electro song. This is the one to bang after you got yours, friends. Trust me.
DOWNLOAD
10. I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You (Twelves Remix)
Some teenage days, longing for romance electro that reminds me of all the girls I’ve met who had dicks for boyfriends in my years as an adolescent. This Twelves remix will fuck you up, and make you listen again just to make sure you get the message that the Twelves are the most underrated electro group out there.
DOWNLOAD
11. Strangers In the Wind - Cut Copy
A nostalgic melody with a saddening keyboard, tacked on with a slue of ever lasting, broad lyrics that bring back memories of school winding down. The beat that kicks in makes the song a definite on the list.
DOWNLOAD
12. Cheap and Cheerful (SebastiAn Remix)
This is the definition of evil. Self-serving, I-hate-being-humble-and-happy, let’s fuck shit up, get belligerent, not give a fuck about cranking it at an intersection, I’m ready to be apathetic as shit, music that is more than mildly addictive.
DOWNLOAD
13. Neo Violence (Shazam Remix)
Some Thanksgiving break, chilling in the range on cold nights with T-time, waiting for KJ to come back, disco shit. The only thing that comes to mind when I hear this.
DOWNLOAD
14. I want I want (LAZRTAG Remix)
Some midnight electro rave madness that blows the fuck up right in your face. The beats and backdrop sounds are so fucking catchy that I can’t help but put this shit on repeat when I’m looking to go fucking ballistic (in the best, friendliest way possible.)
DOWNLOAD
15. Works For Me - The Twelves
This is some happy beginning electro that tends to get stuck in my head all the time. Goddamn you, Twelves. This one is very reminiscent of my days of going to parties and being the shy voyeur in the middle of a scene.

Starfox's Top Ten!

Tony Weiss's Top Ten Electro Songs of the Year

13. Primary 1 - Hold Me Down (Foamo Remix)
This isn't even that electro. It is just really really really dope. The bass line just murders me everytime. Plus Foamo is up there with Grum in terms of chopping up vocals.
DOWNLOAD

12. Felix Da Housecat - Radio (Shinichi Osawa Remix)
Shinichi had a great year. He released a popular album with some truly hard hitting tracks on them. His remix of Radio is my favorite thing he has done this year, his remake of Star Guitar being a very close second. This is just really catchy and overall excellent.
DOWNLOAD

11. Midnight Juggernauts - Road to Recovery
Technically not 2008. I don't really care. This song is fucking great. If you haven't heard it then go pick up the album.
DOWNLOAD

10. PNAU - Embrace (Miami Horror & Fred Falke Remix)
So smooth. So good. So over-blogged. So top ten.
DOWNLOAD

9. SymbolOne - Love Juice (Danger Remix)
SymbolOne is great. Their remixes of Ambient Room and more recently Mission Complete have been on point, filled with great synth sounds that sound really fresh. Danger is also known for some great sounds. In this remix he destroys it with some heavy synths that hammer out a really memorable line and even progress to an an amazing solo. Definetly a top track of the year. This is my favorite Danger track, but that doesn't mean his others are weak in comparison. In fact, I could probably fill half of this list with some of the remixes and original tracks he put out this year.
DOWNLOAD

8. Surkin - White Knights Two
What hasn't been said about this song? It is one of the most blogged about tracks this year, and is certified epic. If you haven't heard it yet then you don't listen to electro.
DOWNLOAD

7. Tronik Youth - Laugh Cry Live Die (Grum Remix)
Honestly, I don't know why I like this remix SO MUCH. It just makes me wanna go nuts. I love the way Grum uses vocal samples in his songs and his melodies are always super triumphant. The production is also amazing.
DOWNLOAD

6. Bag Raiders - Turbo Love
Turbo Love, recently dropped by the Bag Raiders is the definition of adrenaline in electro. It just moves you. Every time this song comes on I remember why I like to get drunk and dance around to cheesy music like this. It doesn't get any sweeter than that main synth line. Vocoder on top of it...another classic.
DOWNLOAD

5. Asobi Seksu - Thursday (The Twelves Remix)
I know a lot of people will probably disagree with m on this one. I can't help it. This song is so sweet and gooey it makes me throw up lollipops. I will never get enough of this song.
DOWNLOAD

4. New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle (Computer Club Remix)
So what if this is the only Computer Club song I'm obsessed with. It's that fucking good. It makes you realize how great New Order was and how easily their stuff translates into pure banger territory.
DOWNLOAD

3. Mr. Oizo - Gay Dentists
Makes me dance. Makes me dance. Makes me dance. Makes me dance.
DOWNLOAD

2. Cut Copy - Strangers In The Wind
Oh man. The most emotional banger of all time? The way this explodes makes my heart hurt. Falco and I have spent many a night blasting this in the whip and crying tears of electricity.
DOWNLOAD

1. SebastiAn - Momy

Devra's Top Ten Electro Songs of 2008

10. La Mer (Hot Pink Delorean Remix) – The Victorian English Gentleman’s Club
DOWNLOAD
I am walking into the party. I am on amphetamines. It’s like that Epic Adidas Party commercial, and I’m fucking David Beckham.

9. When We Were Young (Shazam Remix) – Sneaky Sound System
DOWNLOAD
If I were alive in the 80s, this song would probably give me nostalgia. But I wasn’t, so it just gives me orgasms.

8. Runway to Elsewhere (Breakbot Remix) – Pacific
DOWNLOAD
The only thing that could make Pacific better is Breakbot. Two of my favorite bros combine to create something that sounds like a bunch of lesbians under a waterfall, in white t-shirts, on xanxex. Giggling.

7. Sapphire – p e a c e FIRE
DOWNLOAD
Twelve-ish minutes of musical adderall. Put this on and write your paper. Put this on and clean your room. Put this on with the intention of throwing down, because the synth will give you a semi.

6. Fascination – La Roux
DOWNLOAD
When Abercrombie & Fitch becomes electro in 2k12, they will play this song in every store, and they will be handing out Sparxx with every neon v neck/moose logo they sell. And it will be fucking great.

5. Valve – Redial
DOWNLOAD
120 miles an hour on the Garden State Parkway. Lines on your dashboard. Fistpumping. Word.

4. La Mano Mia (Cecile and Bloody Beetroots Remix) – Bugo
DOWNLOAD
This is the song that will play when you beat the video game that is life. Sephiroth is dead. You rescued Princess Peach. You’re tittyfucking Zelda, and it is perfect.

3. Sweaty (Shazam Remix) – Muscles
DOWNLOAD
Anyone within a forty mile radius of me knows this song makes me want to fuck kittens. I love this song. It is cotton candy, it is cocaine, it is an absolutely boss.

2. Lion (Breakbot Remix) – ZZZ
DOWNLOAD
When Mozart turns neon, this will be the first thing he bangs out on a midi keyboard. It is epic. It is driving. It’s not really a banger, but I can definitely still get down to it.

1. Shooting Stars – Bag Raiders
DOWNLOAD
This is. The Best Song. Of 2k8. The louder you play it, the better it gets. The breakdown is absolute bliss. It’s like a shooting star. Do yourself a favor and play it.

Okay, now play it again.

Boat Club - Caught The Breeze

I'm kind of angry that no one has heard of this group from Sweden. Boat Club is fucking amazing. The duo creates some of the warmest and happiest electronic music I have heard in awhile. Think Studio. Think Air France. Think The Embassy. Think The Tough Alliance. Think of euphoria.

Tracklist
1. All The Time
2. Warmer Climes
3. Always Away
4. Nowhere
5. Memories
6. Spanish Castles

Boat Club - Caught The Breeze
^Highly Recommended.

New Jupiter!!!

Jupiter delivers again. Third song of pure disco synth pleasure. Stuttering synths with gurgling bass and candy coated annie-esque vocals.

Jupiter - Chip

And All These Weird Creatures Who Lock Up Their Spirits, Drill Holes In Themselves & Live For Their Secrets.

It seems our friend Dr. Watson over at the hip-hop chocolate factory made of shooting stars has recently been remixing the fuck out of the west coast.  All that remains is the glittery hyper-produced track that honestly embarrasses Starfox & Falco for not making electro, my God he breaks it down like it's his 9 to 5.

This one is for the lollipop flavored electrocat and her mexican electroboss bunny rabbit.

This Is What Happens When An Unstoppable Force Meets An Immovable Object.

The Joker: Aka Simple Sunny 2 with The Dark Knight

So yesterday I was in high spirits driving around with my pal Peppy (aka Asa) and he was telling me how much he enjoyed my last mix called "Simple Sunny Electro". You can find that mix here: FIRST SIMPLE SUNNY ELECTRO MIX.

Well I left that car ride in high spirits and went back to my house to make Simple Sunny Electro 2. It was all well and good until I left the mix half unfinished before I went to see the new Batman movie late last night. Well I woke up and finished my mix to find out that the movie had made me feel a tiny bit dark this morning so the mix kind of changes attitude in the middle, I tried to make the shift as smooth as possible. But Simple Sunny Electro 2 can't have Motor in it. So for those people who want to hear the entire mix, in all its schizophrenic glory, I have it for you.

The Joker Mix
1. Sneaky Sound System - Kansas City (Lifelike remix)
2. Muscles - Sweaty (Shazam Remix)
3. New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle (Computer Club Remix)
4. ALB - Sweet Sensation (Breakbot Remix)
5. PNAU - Embrace (Fred Falke & Miami Horror Remix)
6. Jupiter - Starlighter
7. Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Epic Last Song (Lifelike Remix)
8. Bag Raiders - Fun Punch (Calling In Sick Remix)
9. Ghosthustler - Someone Else's Ride
(^That half is the true Simple Sunny Electro 2 mix, and then it gets a little bit more intense)
10. The Dirty Secrets - Five Feet of Snow (Miami Horror Remix)
11. Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know Me (Grum Remix)
12. LA Priest - Engine (Erol Alkan Re-Edit)
13. Foals - Hummer (Surkin Remix)
14. Dragostea - Din Tei (SebastiAn Remix)
15. Britney Spears - Outrageous (Felix Cartel Big Girl Remix)
16. SebastiAn - Momy
17. MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice Remix)
18. Mr. Miyagi - Pick Your Poison (Felix Cartel Remix)
19. SebastiAn - Walkman Re-edit
20. SebastiAn - Motor

****************************************************
Because I am not a complete asshole I split the mix up in two for everyone just in case someone just wants the nice electro. Hey maybe one of you just wants the massive banger section of the mix 2, I don't know.

So I present you Simple Sunny Electro 2:

Tracks 1-9 from the Joker Mix: Simple Sunny Electro 2

Tracks 10-19 from the Joker MIx: The Dark Knight

P.S. I am not a real DJ. I can't cut shit up like Surkin or whoever. Think of these as like podcasts or something you would hear on the radio. Like a highlight reel of all my favorite electro tunes. Plz do not post anything about beat matching or I will blow up a boat.

Into The Galaxy.

Starfox & Falco are far out and away from each other and both toil away at their own specific projects out in the galaxy.  Both assume musical salvation and creative confidence in creating their own original works of organized, aggressive disco made out of chrome.  Young and ambitious, both have at their advantage a wardrobe of expensive future fashion, agile minds, and eventually an extensive knowledge of overly complicated electronic producing softwares.

They do all of this to legitimize their owning two of the most expensive jackets known to french touch Ed Banger all-stars.

The Electro Wars Begin.

NEW EVERYTHING - DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY

Fucking Relax.

It is summer. Now it is time for you to fucking relax. For real. I know it is time for everyone to pretend they are working on something or actually trying at their job, but for me, summer is the time where I take time to really better myself as a person...and better my music collection. I have recently discovered a need for music that floats in and out of my ears erotically and without loud dissonant sounds trumpeting its arrival. I found all of these songs this past week and they will go on a big cd that I will play when I am not rocking out. They make the day easier.

Well we all know Fake Tats loves Air France. Well, fuck me cuz Air France is not the only amazing group from Sweden (duh...). I honestly want to take a trip to Sweden this summer, why not? So much good music it is actually depressing. Do people in Sweden constantly take painkillers and recieve oral sex? I don't know...but that is what Boat Club reminds me of...painkillers and oral sex.

Boat Club - All The Time

Boat Club - Memories

Boat Club - Spanish Castles

Well aren't they just amazing. What is it...like a mix of Studio and Air France? Or just like a different version of Studio that rocks a lil' less and pops a lil more? Idk...but I am really happy I found this shit.

More from sweden!!!

Melpo Mene is the guy who sang "I Adore You", a song I posted with all the other Swedish gems. That song is now a classic thanks 2 Fake Tats (just kidding...but it is now a classic in my circle of friend(s)). N E WAYZ I found more music by this guy and like his song I Adore You, it is really heartwarming and just downright pretty music. Check out some of his other tracks.

Melpo Mene - Jedi

Melpo Mene - Snakes And Lions

Well in Baltimore there was this post punk band called Wilderness that was evidently pretty sick, I need 2 check them out. Their guitar player made a solo album and it is this really weird version of Post Punk that is kind of ambient or something...he loops really catchy / ANGULAR HEHEH guitar lines and sings over them. I don't know if you will like it but it's the kind of stuff that makes me feel very isolated and emotional when I listen to it. I love it. Oh by the way he goes by the name The Lord Dog Bird, is that a reference to the Verlaines album?

The Lord Dog Bird - No Security

The Lord Dog Bird - Walking With You

Now for something really different, some Flying Lotus for you. My friend emailed me and told me to check out his other songs and now I am really mad at myself for not posting some of these earlier/playing some of these for my friends earlier or back in the day when I used to smoke pot. These are some instrumental gems in the vein of Madlib if he listened to a lot more electronic music instead of a lot of jazz. Really funky, really good.

Flying Lotus - GNG BNG

Flying Lotus - Beginners Falafel

Flying Lotus - Melt

This is kind of a one off and not my favorite track in the post but still really good for playing in the car or during work or while reading or while making out with someone sensually.

Born Ruffians - I Need A Life (Four Tet Remix)

Listening to Four Tet makes me think of my other love in that genre of really really warm sounding electronic music that is perfect for accompanying ANYTHING: Pantha Du Prince. This guy rocks.

Raz Ohara and The Odd Orchestra - Kisses (Pantha Du Prince Remix)

The Long Blondes - Guilt (Pantha Du Prince)

Okay so we are coming to an end here...another massive post from Star Fox...holding the fort down while Falco is flying off somewhere doing something or other. Kleerup is awesome. He is also from Sweden. Do I really need 2 say anything else...do I need to even blog about non-swedish music?

Kleerup - Until We Bleed (with Lykke Li)

Kleerup - Longing For Lullabies (with Titiyo)

Well have a happy summer. This is another massive post from your boy Star Fox. Signing out.

Hidden Camera Vid of Starfox & Falco Partying!

Pedro & Fred Fuck You Up With New Bangers.

Falco is back.  Posting.  Off the Junk.

Justice is producing the new Chili Peppers album.

Radiohead is coming soon.

Sebastian isn't.

New phone.  New jackets.  New shoes.

  Everything is hooked back up.

Enjoy.

There's no comedown either.

In The Office: Two

Well I'm back in my Office trying to get my headphones to work. The right ear bud keeps turning off so I have to keep my head incredibly still to enjoy the pleasures of listening with BOTH ears. Thankfully I have so many new tunes that I already tested for you guys ready to live here on Fake Tats. I Got a nice selection of fresh music for you, ranging from straight up Dance Rock to new BNGRZ and a lil bit of OTHER 2 keep things interesting.

Let us begin with some Dance Rock:

Late of The Pier - Broken
^Sick. Awesome drums and guitar leads.

Bloc Party - Mercury
^New Bloc Party single...really weird. Has horns and electronic touches. I'm confused but I like it.

Friendly Fires - Lovesick
^First song I've ever heard from this group. Real good stuff.

The Long Blondes - Five Ways To End It (Erol Alkan Remix)
^I love this group. Their last album wasn't as good as their first. But at least we have this remix from Erol Alkan to crank up in our convertibles.

Metronomy isn't really Dance Rock but it is dancey and weird.
Metronomy - Heartbreaker

Metronomy - Back On The Motorway

I guess we are moving more into the electronic realm. I got some goodies of course.

Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia (Turkish Prison Remix)

Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia (Cut Copy Remix)
^Both of these are quality I will let you decide which one is better.

Fischerspooner - Danse En France (D.I.M. Remix)
^Alright, alright. I know. We are now in the realm of bangers.

Redial - 45 Overdrive
^This song rips it apart. [Highly Rec'd]

Bounce Camp - Big Dancin'
^This song makes everyone in the room get down.

Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl (Mr. Gaspar Remix)
^Remember how annoying this song is? Well it got remixed by Mr. Gaspar and now it is good. [Highly Rec'd]

Kissy Sell Out - You're On Fire
^Song title says it all.

Flying Lotus - Robotussin (feat. Lil Wayne)
^[HIGHLY REC'D]

Alright I doubt anyone will download all of these songs at once. I put up some heat here today, and I can go to sleep happy. I know today my job wasn't completly pointless.

Zach Condon - Venice
