I'm Back.

Hey. Sorry it has been so long. Don't worry! I'll make up for it by posting some quality tracks. Summer is almost over... :-( ...here are some songs you can't go back to school without hearing. I'm sure you will enjoy all of them.

Memory Cassette are getting a lot of attention nowadays. I can understand why.

Memory Cassette - Asleep At A Party

Memory Cassette - Listen To The Vacuum

Siriusmo - All The Girls

Siriusmo - High Together

Siriusmo - Let Me In

Becoming Perfect.

We've landed, and are no longer interested in flying high.
We're interested in becoming perfect.

We're interested in falling in love.

We still love to party (dj & dance).

But mostly we're just interested in being together.

The best Ed Banger release ever!

New Wolfgang...Whoa

Wolfgang Gartner is not fucking around. I don't think he ever was. He won the war many years ago. Why does 5th Symphony remind me of Genesis?

Wolfgang Gartner - Wolfgang's 5th Symphony

Wolfgang Gartner - The Grey Agenda

Sunset Rubdown + Candy Claws

Here is a record of unreleased stuff from my favorite band at the moment. I like it.

Candy Claws - Glacier Prey

Here is the new Sunset Rubdown album. I like it a lot. However, I like pretty much everything Spencer does. I would say this is better than RSL though.

Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer

Moderat

Everyone should get this album. It's Modeselektor and Apparat.

Fake Tats Cool Cats (Kind of)

Kind of like Justice, I put together a mix of some tracks I've been listening to. My mix is a bit different--I don't actually mix any of it--you can't dance to any of these songs really--and the mp3s are all separated. Hopefully you will find a new band or two that you like. The mix includes songs by:

Black Eyes
Neutral Milk Hotel
Nothing People
Silent Paper Radios
Skeletons
Think About Life
TwinSisterMoon
The Weatherman
Wizardzz

Deadbeat Summer

From Obscure Sound:
"Little is known about Neon Indian, but imminent recognition will certainly play a role in whether or not that will stay the same. An anonymous male and female from the respective locations of Austin, Texas and Brooklyn, New York comprise Neon Indian, but little is known about their personal identities apart from the fact that the guy is a musician and the girl is a video artist. Their picture-less, video-less appearance online disallows me from viewing any of their video aspects, but their inventive music clearly shows that video compatibility should be excellent when implemented. The reason for this is the atmospheric ability that the group conveys, evident a style that strays on the borders of dream-pop, italo-disco, and psychedelic electronica without fully committing itself to one specific niche. The approach is consistent throughout their debut EP, Psychic Chasms, though and results in one of the most promising releases of the year. In addition to using sparkling synths and hazily reverbed vocals to construct their style, they hold something in common with Sweden’s Air France. They released an EP, No Way Down, in 2008 that brought their radiant electronica to the masses due to widespread acclaim. Psychic Chasms is nearly identical in length and overall quality, providing listeners with a sample that should have them excited for the duo’s promising future."

I'm On Spring Break

Sorry I haven't been updating Fake Tats...I'm on spring break on the west coast. I'll be back in action in a week or so. Don't forget about this little blog!

To keep the followers happy:

New Candy Claws Album

Incredible!

I'm going to cite something the blog I got it from said about this album:

Aerephones and Aeroplanes:
"This is the new release that I, and most of you I'm sure, have been waiting for quite some time now(2 years in fact, but well worth the wait). I must say, that this was truely a magical experience. It is based on the "The Sea Around Us" by Rachel Carson, and that relation glistens to where you feel as if every song presents a whole new story from the seas tiniest of creatures and that you have dived into a world of new wonders that are unimaginable. These stories are beautifully told by the dreamiest of pop melodies and luscious noises that ripple endlessly in your ear drums. Let your soul submerse into the glorious journey, "In The Dream of The Sea Life."
(please order a copy of this, I already sent my cash out, do the same!)"

When The Lights Go Down...

Philly electro rap team Chiddy Bang are spray painting South Street with the fuzzy rainbow beats of "Sooner Or Later" and the Radiohead-inspired "Because".

Sooner Or Later - Chiddy Bang
Because - Chiddy Bang

Divide & Kreate bring us a banger in this mash-up of the Eurythmics and Lady Gaga.

Dance Dreams - Lady Gaga vs Eurythmics (Divide & Kreate mix)

Gigamesh and newcomer DiscoTech repaint the flare on Radiohead classic "Everything In Its Right Place". A new throwdown favorite? Yesterday I woke up sucking a lemon.

Everything In Its Right Place (Gigamesh/DiscoTech Remix)

A-Trak puts the grind in MSTRKRFT's "Bounce" with N64 percussion and Sega-inspired synths that will make your bullshit party into yet again, another huge victory.

Bounce (A-Trak Remix) - MSTRKRFT (feat. NORE)

All I do is party.

Bastille

My friend and future roommate Julien is back with his partner Michael. That's right boys and girls, Bastille is back again. If you ever come to Oberlin you should let me know and I can tell you if Julien is DJing. It's known that its a banger whenever that goes down.

Anyways, Julien and Michael have gotten even better. This time I'm most excited about their track Egalite which reminds me a bit of Felix Cartal's remix of Pick Your Poison in the beginning and then drops into something that sounds kind of like Knightlife or Russ Chimes. It's fucking incredible. I'm really impressed with this track.

Bastille - Égalité

The next track is just as good, except in a different, house-y way. A remix of Jackson 5: It's perfect for a set that includes Daft Punk, The Phantom's Revenge, and w.e other house/disco tracks you wanna play. Make sure to grab this one.

Jackson 5 - Life of the Party (Bastille's Let's Get Down Remix)

Flashback to some bros at the keep party drunkely screaming "BASTION BASTION BASTION"

haha....

ALSO, don't forget to peep Bastille on Myspace

Springtime Falls.

Falco predicts that French electro-pop-rock band Phoenix's upcoming album will be one of the best of the year. On their past albums, they were a lesser Cut Copy emulating the slick swagger of The Strokes, but now that they've been fucking with a Korg or two as is present here in "1901", their relentless, digitzied optimism shines as they fuck shit up.

1901 - Phoenix

Another smiling disco-funk groove from Fake Tats favorite Breakbot. Sounds a lot like Sly and the Family Stone running through a Charlie Brown digitech pedal on Nickelodeon-electro mode. Another bullshit victory.

Penelope Pitstop - Breakbot

Undercover detective / house producer Smiling Symbol bring us a Louis La Roche-esque track that will be sure to bring the spark back to your stale and failing relationship. Bump this on your waterbed. Shine like the sex symbol you are. Go unprotected.

I Want U - Shining Symbol

My Friend Peter: Birth-Days

So there is this awesome kid named Peter who lives down the hall from me at College. Sometimes I'll walk by his door and be all like "wtf...is Avey Tare in there? What tuning is that!?! I WANT THAT AS A DOWNLOADABLE MPEG-1 AUDIO LAYER 3!!!"

WELL HE JUST HOOKED IT THE FUCK UP! HE DONE MADE AN ALBUM! THE ALBUM IS FUCKING SWEEET :-D

I'd say it sounds kind of like...uhh...I don't know...it's pretty original. Some of the vocal melodies remind me a lot of Avey Tare but less "i'm happy and on acid!' and more "I sound happy but listen to what I am saying It isn't as simple as that!!". The instrumentation is pretty layered, possibly comparable to some Olivia Tremor Control type sprawl gone lo-fi or an Atlas Sound sans Cox's pessimistic shoe-gazer-y. I'm not too keen on going super in-depth with album summaries...basically I'm just trying to sound like I know a lot about music...basically this is a undeniably catchy, strangely euphoric, delightfully sinister (yep I'm talking about you Blue Velvet samples!), and above all HIGHLY PERSONAL album that is a clear example of why DIY and the internet and computers and guitars and Peters kick so much ass.

Birth-Days - Download Candy

By the way, this kid lives down the hall from me.

Bastille Has Arrived

I met Julien the first day of college. He was wearing a Ross Ross Ross T-shirt. I knew he would be legit. We became good friends. We talked a lot about electro. We talked a lot about girls. I danced a lot when he DJed. I nodded my head a lot when he played me his original songs. Julien collaborated with my roommate Peter (also known as NARWHAL) to create the banger Liberte. Julien, along with his friend from back home (LA) Michael are known as Bastille. I'm proud to be the first to blog about them. Bastille is sick. Keep checking Fake Tats for new material from the group.
